More than 100 countries throughout the world, mainly in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and the United States, import a substantial portion of the fruits and vegetables produced in India. According to the National Horticulture Database, approximately 24 lakh metric tonnes of fresh Onion worth $ 464.02 million were exported from India last year. Indian Onion is in high demand abroad.
As a result, the government began providing a 5% subsidy on onion export from India to encourage the sale of any surplus outside of India. Because of this, Indian onion prices will be more stable throughout India.
After China, India is the world’s second-largest onion producer. Indian onions are known for their spiciness and year-round availability around the globe. In addition, Onion is a crucial ingredient in many Indian recipes, including curries and side dishes.
